Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) provides screenings, consultations, and legal defense to Asian American Pacific Islanders and all those in need of immigration legal services. While we strive to help in all areas, we will concentrate on specific cases, particularly people in detention; survivors of domestic violence, torture, and human trafficking; and other vulnerable people. ACRS also provides limited assistance in cases where we are unable to fully represent a client.

Areas of concentration:

  • Detention and Deportation Defense
  • Persons seeking Asylum and Refugees
  • Victims of Human Trafficking and Other Crimes (U & T visas)
  • Battered spouses, children, and parents of U.S. citizens and certain spouses and children of permanent residents, as amended by the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)

Eligibility:

  • Live or work in King County
  • Total Household Income 200% lower than national income average

Eligibility of representation for your case will be determined at the time of the consultation. At the time of the consultation, our immigration attorney will determine if you are eligible for representation at no cost. LEGAL CLINIC

ACRS has a long time partnership with the King County Bar Association (KCBA) and the Asian Bar Association of WA to offer a free legal clinic at ACRS. The clinic is part of the KCBA’s Neighborhood Legal Clinic Program (NLC). The purpose of the  NLC is to offer free, limited legal advice and referrals to King County residents and Washington State residents with legal issues in King County who might otherwise have no access to the legal system. It is a goal of the program to make the clinics accessible regardless of barriers such as income, education, language or disability.

Please call the numbers listed below to schedule an appointment. When accessing the ACRS Legal Clinic, you can request an interpreter free of charge.  When coming to the appointment, please bring all the paperwork that relates to your case or legal question, including all contracts, letters, court papers, etc. Please bring a pen and paper in order to take notes on the advice, suggestions and referrals you may receive.
